Animal health and Awareness camp was organised by KVK Barnala in the adopted village- Gonghor district Barnala in guidance of Dr. P. S. Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK Barnala. Dr. Parminder Singh Additional Director Extension Education , Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana attended the program as Chief guest and Dr. R.K. Sharma , Director, RRTC Talwara, Dr. Karamjit Singh, Deputy Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, Barnala and experts from the Department of Vet. Medicine and Vet. Gynaecology GADVASU, Ludhiana also present.
Dr. Tanwar Welcome to all the guests as well as to the dairy farmers and highlight the activities being organised for the farming community by KVK Barnala. He also motivates the farmers for goat rearing due to high income with low investment. Dr. R.K.Sharma discussed in detail about ITKs( Deshi Totke) to be used in livestock farming. Dr. Karamjit Singh, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry emphasis on activities being carried by the Department of Animal Husbandry and motivate the farmers for using sexed semen for cows to overcome the male calf problem up to an extent. Dr. Parminder Singh discussed precautions to be followed during silage preparation to reduce the fungal infection and its feeding to the animals. He also told about breeding strategy to get higher production from the coming progeny. Expert from the Department of Vet. Medicine emphasis on use of magnets to reduce the Traumatic Reticuloperitonitis (TRP) Dr. Suryendra Singh, Assistant Professor, KVK Barnala and other officials from Department of Animals Husbandry, Barnala were also present. More than 60 progressive dairy farmers participated and more than 150 animals including small ruminants were treated in the camp and mineral mixtures were distributed to the farmers.
